Role Description
As a senior network engineer you will be responsible for providing Tier 1/2/3 operational support including network configuration/implementation and maintenance support. Proactively monitoring the health of the global WAN/LAN infrastructure and services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Proactively monitoring the health of the global WAN / LAN infrastructure.
- Participate in the daily monitoring and maintenance of all related hardware and software-based systems
- Respond to detected and reported problems and interfacing with vendor support service groups to ensure quick resolutions and appropriate notification during outages or periods of degraded performance.
- Coordinate resolution of production network issues. Perform initial research and diagnostics of network issues and use the trouble ticketing system to open, update, reassign and close trouble tickets.
- Communicate directly with end-users as necessary to meet SLA's.
- Participate on project teams as operations resource for configuration and/or implementation support.
- Be available for on-call rotation
- Must be self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Selection Criteria:
- Minimum 5-7 years solid experience in networking with excellent problem-solving ability
- Extensive experience using VMware ESX 3.5/ vSphere planning and implementation of hardware consolidation programs.
- Experience in IP Telephony & VoIP are a plus
- Knowledge of AIX, Linux and or SUN environments would be an advantage
- Proven knowledge and configuration experience of Dell, IBM infrastructure, WAN routers Cisco and or Juniper, Juniper Firewalls, wireless access points and controllers
- Knowledge and experience with QoS, Routing Protocols (Static, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF), Spanning Tree, Layer 3 Switching, and VPNs (IPSec, MPLS, VPLS)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- MCSE + Messaging with 3-5 years experience
- Microsoft Technical Specialist in SQL desirable
- VCP certification
- Microsoft Technical Specialist in Exchange 2007
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft back office suite
- Cisco CCNA Certified desirable
